Actress Han Hye Jin is wrapping up her current drama "One Warm Word," promoting her latest film "When A Man Loves" and making plans to return to the British Isles. There she will join her husband soccer player Ki Sung Yueng who is currently playing for a British soccer team in Wales.
Han Hye Jin and the eight-year-younger Ki Sung Yueng married in July. Shortly after the ceremony Han Hye Jin traveled to Wales to live with her husband. But their honeymoon was cut short when then she got a drama offer she could not refuse. She was asked to play the role of a woman whose marriage almost unravels because of a love affair.
"I really wanted to focus on my family, but my heart was torn because I was such a big fan of the drama's writer," she said. She was not only a fan of Han Myung Hee, who wrote "Can We Get Married?" but also the director Choi Hyung Hun, who previously directed "Five Fingers."
Careeer-wise, taking that role has turned out to be a smart choice as the subtle drama about love, adultery and marriage has steadily held second place in its time slot since it began. It's unusual for its portrayal of how divorce creates ripples of shock waves throughout the extended families that are involved.
Han Hye Jin's husband understood how important the role was to her and urged her to take it. Having traveled as a soccer player, he knew the sacrifices that are sometimes required to follow your dreams.
Having followed that dream, Han Hye Jin is eager to return to him and she has no immediate plans for work in Korea. She is thankful that he is so understanding of her career but does not want to remain apart from him for much longer.
"After filming the drama, I'll be going in mid-February. I don't know when I'm coming back, but I will probably stay there until the end of the soccer season in May," she told Star News.
While the couple does want to have children in the near future they are not making definite plans as to exactly when.
"I think it will happen naturally," she said. "They say it's more stressful if you plan it. With work and kids we are just going to go with the flow."
