"Made in China" will not be a film about things that are labeled "Made in China." Instead the film is said to be about eels, the squirmy kind. It will also be a film about looking inside for answers. And that's as much information as is currently available about the plot.
What is known is that the film will star two likable actors, both of whom are ready to have a breakout year: Park Ki Woong and Han Chae Ah.
The co-stars have worked together before as they both appeared in the historical drama "Bridal Mask." He played Kimura Shunji a Japanese teacher whose life takes a dark turn during the Japanese occupation of Korea. She played Ueno Ri, a Korean spy for the Japanese. She was a woman who falls in love with the freedom fighter she was assigned to follow.
In the new film, Park Ki Woong will play the role of Chen but there is no more information available about the character.
The film's producer Kim Soon Mo did say that the character is an intense one.
"Park Ki Woong is a very emotional character," he said. "The role of Chen will bring out all of his intensity."
The actor is already busy studying his character, analyzing every detail of his daily life, from his hairstyle to his costume.
"He is working hard to become Chen," said a representative of his agency, Wave On Entertainment.
Han Chae Ah plays a prosecutor in the film but her character name has not yet been revealed. The actress previously only worked in one film, "The King of Flattery," but she has several dramas to her credit. Besides playing a role in "Bridal Mask," Han Chae Ah recently appeared in "Ohlala Couple," "All About My Romance" and "Future's Choice."
"I believe her performance will add more light to the film," said Kim Soon Mo.
It's not Park Ki Woong's first film. He debuted in the film "Ghost Story" in 2005 and most recently appeared in the hit film "Secretly Greatly" with co-stars Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Hyun Woo. He had roles in several dramas, including "Me Too, Flower," "The Slave Hunters" and "Swine Escape."
Kim Ki Duk Films is producing but not directing "Made In China." Kim Dong Hoo will direct the film. It will be the first full-length film for Kim Dong Hoo. He previously directed two short films and served as producer on another film.
