Piece of advice to any up and coming interviewers out there: when interviewing someone, choose the right questions. Radio host Kyle Sandilands learned the hard way when she interviewed "Royals" singer Lorde.

Lorde appeared on KIIS 1065′s "The Kyle & Jackie O Show" and the brief interview turned awkward when host Kyle Sandilands asked her a very strange question regarding Lorde's friendship with American singer Taylor Swift.

Are you bringing your new bestie, Taylor Swift?" Sandilands asked. "I see your guys' pictures everywhere. Are you guys like, uh, are you together now?" After a moment of silence from the singer, he continued, "Not together as in lesbians. I'm not talking about 'Ellen together.' I'm talking about, like, you guys are friendly right?"

Lorde, offended by the dj's question and responded,

"What do you mean you're not talking about 'Ellen together'? Is there something wrong with lesbians? Is that what you're trying to say?"

"Oh my god no, I would love that!" Sandilands exclaimed. "Are you going to confirm now you're in a lesbian relationship with her?"

"Don't even try it," the Grammy winner calmly replied

Sandilands went on to say Swift is a "gorgeous creature" and "no wonder you guys get on." But when the Lorde refused to offer much of a response, he interjected: "Don't get too overboard with explaining the friendship, though. We haven't got all day."

"I won't, believe me," she replied.

Lorde and Taylor Swift were recently spotted dancing in the streets of New York last Sunday March 9. Last month, Lorde visited The "Red" singer in California. They were spotted frolicking on the beach in Malibu and went to Brentwood, Los Angeles in a shopping spree.

We certainly hoped DJ Kyle Sandilands learned from his mistakes when asking the right questions especially to Lorde if she ever becomes a guest again on his radio show.
