Nexus 8 Release date rumors continue to hover across the Web as it is customary for Google to release a tab each year. Reports say that an April release is expected in order to avoid competing with the Google Nexus 7, which has not lived up to Google's expectations in sales for 2013.
A new and enhanced tablet will have an 8" screen, and a 64-bit chip, 2GB of RAM, 32 GB option and possibly a pricier 64GB option.
AndroidPit reports that Google's Nexus 8 is supposed to carry Intel's newly -announced Moorefield processor. This chip uses PowerVR G6430 graphics. However, Google will still have to work with its chip-partner Asus since Intel has confirmed collaborative ventures with Dell, Lenovo, Foxconn and Asus.
"Therefore, Google has selected 8-inch as the size of the third-generation Nexus 7 to avoid price competition and competition from 5- to 6-inch smartphones, sources say. Google is very likely to continue co-brand cooperation with Asustek for the 8-inch tablet, the sources added," in digital times report
TomsHardware points out "that the iPad Mini, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, the 8-inch tablets in the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro line, the Asus MeMo Pad 8, the LG G Pad 8.3, and a potential HTC tablet are all possible competitors to a Nexus 8. So in many ways the 8-inch tablet is just as saturated as the 7-inch tablet market."
Android 4.5 is not expected to arrive until July and many reports signal that the Nexus 8 will debut alongside it.
Google Nexus 8 Tablet release date is expected by July 2014, according to published reports. And it could be powered by a next generation OS, aka Android 4.5 or perhaps even an Android 5, say insiders to the story.
Though Google's Android has been faring well, despite the delayed roll of the ongoing Android 4.4 Kit Kat update, more consumers seem to be switching to Android over iOS
The rumor of a Google Nexus 8 release date appears to be likely since Google has indicated it will discontinue the current Google Nexus 7 tab in order to explore the 8" space a bit more.
Bigger tabs might not play well except as desktop tablets because of the lack of portability. On the other end of the scale, a host of 7" tabs ranging from Samsung, Blackberry Playbook, and others like Acer, Lenovo have had considerable success and have saturated the 7" market.
Apart from the iPad Mini, the Nexus 8 will compete with the Samsung Galaxy 8.4 tab,and the LG G Pad 8.3 recently debuted at the MWC 2014 in Barcelona. There's a possibility that Intel will power the Nexus 8 despite the fact that Asus is the hardware partner of Google
