Remember the conversation that Iron Man and Captain America had about Agent Coulson after his death in the Avengers movie? Steve asked if he had a wife and Tony replied that Phil Coulson is dating a cellist. What if that "cellist girlfriend" was actually real and she is making an appearance in ABC's superhero spy flick Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Plus, a trailer for the new episode End of the Beginning has been revealed.
So Marvel fans, here is a special treat for all of you.
Amy Acker will join the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Audrey, the cellist girlfriend of Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg). Amy Acker is known for her TV roles in Angel, Alias, and Person of Interest as well as films such as The Cabin in the Woods, and Sironia. Audrey according to TV Guide is a talented musician turning heads in Portland, and believes that Coulson is dead and has no idea that he's guarding her because she is a "super powered" threat. With this in mind what kind of power does Audrey have, and what would be her reaction if she sees Coulson alive again in the future episodes.
Acker and Gregg have worked together before, and recently. Though their on-screen relationship was admittedly very different. The two were both a part of Joss Whedon's "Much Ado About Nothing" in 2012. Acker played Beatrice, the female lead, and Gregg played Leonato, her father. Currently starring on "Person of Interest," Acker has been a longtime participant in Joss Whedon's projects, starting with Angel and then moving to Dollhouse, where she worked with current "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancheroen. In fact, during a recent "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."-centric chat with the showrunners, Tancheroen teased that they were looking into casting a familiar face as Coulson's ex.
"We're not sure [what happened to the cellist], but right now we do have an 'expert' giving an 'actress we love' a crash course of 'cello lessons," Tancheroen said.
As for the latest episode, a trailer for End of the Beginning episode has been released. The new episode showcases the Shield agents taking the fight to the Clairvoyant, but they have to get past Deathlok (J. August Richards) in order to stop them. The trailer also reveals the dissention amongst the team and the possible identity of the Clairvoyant leader.
