Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin and their two children Apple and Moses are apparently hiding out in the Bahamas on the island of Eleuthera after announcing in a post on Paltrow's Goop blog on Tuesday, March 25 that they are splitting up after 11 years of marriage. The couple have remained mum about their split after the post on GOOP which caused the website to crash. However, friend and actress Cameron Diaz opened about the celebrity couple's split to E! News after tabloids and fans have been asking what went wrong. There were rumors of Paltrow having an affair. Back in October 2013, PageSix reported rumors that Paltrow was having an affair with Elle Macpherson's husband, hotel billionaire Jeff Soffer, which was denied. In February, there were claims that Paltrow was cheating on Martin with entertainment lawyer Kevin Yorn popped by social site Whisper which was denied by Paltrow's rep."People want them to blow up and it to be ugly, but they're kind, generous, loving people who really care about one another," Diaz explained to E! News. "Just because they don't want to be a couple together, doesn't mean that they have to hate one another. They are really good friends."
It sounds like what Diaz is saying is true, because accordingly to the Daily Mail, Paltrow and Martin purchased a $14 million Malibu beach property a few days before they announced their split. The Malibu home is going to be a "bachelor pad" where Martin will live so that he can be able to be close to their two children, whom they will "co-parent."
Diaz continued, "They've made a conscious effort to separate the part of their lives they don't want to live together anymore, and maintain a really beautiful, strong bond as parents and as friends ...I think people should really honor that and they should admire it and they should respect it. They've done something really extraordinary and they've been very brave at presenting that to the public."
Diaz explained that Paltrow and she became close friends after the death of Diaz's father in 2008 as both actresses' fathers passed away age 58. Diaz states that the celebrity couple is doing great as they transition into "conscious uncoupling." "She's doing great. They're doing great," Diaz said.
