Fans of The Ultra Music Festival got worried when they found out that Avicii was hospitalized. The Swedish DJ is expected to perform at the annual Miami concert tonight, but unfortunately he had to cancel his show. That left many EDM enthusiasts disappointed because the 24-year old artist is now one of the biggest names in this music genre.
So who's going to take his slot at The Ultra Music Festival? According to a spokesperson, Deadmau5 will perform in behalf of Avicii tonight. This was also confirmed by the EDM superstar who posted an apology letter to his fans on his Facebook page.
Avicii wrote, "I'm very sad to inform everyone that I, due to hospitalization, need to cancel my set on Ultra Miami this Saturday. Deadmau5 is being kind enough to step up and I'm very sorry to let everyone down. Much love."
Some of his fans are still clueless as to what really happened to him so let us explain things further. Last Thursday afternoon, Avicii was hospitalized in Miami due to severe abdominal pain, fever, and nausea caused by a blocked gall bladder.
This isn't the first time that the Swedish DJ got sick because he got treated twice before for serious health problems. Avicci has admitted in several interviews that his health was affected by excessive partying, drinking, and heavy touring. Imagine doing more than 300 shows per year and being surrounded by free booze all day.
Last year, Avicii was hospitalized in Australia for six days due to pancreatitis, which was caused by alcohol abuse. He also had to cancel his shows in Australia as well as a tour in India. He told GQ, "You are traveling around, you live in a suitcase, you get to this place, there's free alcohol everywhere-it's sort of weird if you don't drink."
Avicii also admitted, "I didn't expect it to last... I was so nervous. I just got into a habit, because you rely on that encouragement and self-confidence you get from alcohol, and then you get dependent on it."
It's really sad when you see a talented musician get hooked on alcohol so hopefully he will finally learn his lesson and ditch the booze. I'm sure you don't want to see Avicii hospitalized again, right? As for tonight, those who are going to The Ultra Music Festival will just have to enjoy the show with or without Avicii.
