Mortal Combat Legacy Season 3: Great news for Mortal Kombat Legacy fans as Kevin Tancharoen, the man who directed the Mortal Kombat Legacy web series, said he's attempting to make a third season of the video-game inspired series.
According to UPI.com, Tancharoen announced in October he planned to take a hiatus from the series, but he may already be back to get the third season off the ground, Inquisitr reported.
"After three years of Mortal Kombat, I've decided to move on to other creative opportunities. I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!" he said last year.
Not six months later and he's apparently changed his mind.
"We are starting to talk about it [Legacy Season 3] literally this week (knock on wood). I'm starting to talk to Warner Bros. and the video game creators, so hopefully we can see it through," he said.
The second season of the web series ended on a cliff hanger that "pissed off way too many people," Tancharoen said.
"Director "Ed Boon and I are going to get together and chat and talk to Warner Bros. about figuring it out," he added.
"With Legacy Season 1, it was kind of a big experiment. No one has done it before, and we didn't know if should be an anthology or connected. We did the first one as an anthology and the second one more serialized. In the future, it will definitely be more connected and more cohesive. ... We all feel right now that we have such a trajectory to the series. There are so many more stories to tell in that format."
Characters rumored to appear in Season 3 is Kabal, who was supposed to appear in the second season but Tancharoen was unable to accommodate the character in because of budget limitations. He is sporting long, black hair, hookswords, and a respirator. He was a mysterious chosen warrior who survived an attack from one of Shao Kahn's extermination squads. Later, he was revealed as a member of the Black Dragon. At the time of his introduction, he appeared as a force for good, but has since reverted to his evil ways, planning to place himself as the head of the new Black Dragon clan.
