Iggy Azalea, the rapper whose "Fancy" music video caused quite a buzz as a "Clueless" remake, talked to Power 105.1 in New York about her first date with Lakers player Nick Young. The rapper, 23, recounts to the radio station that she proposed the date idea to Young: "I was, like, Target is my favorite place, I wanna go to Target!" She elaborates on their first outing, "We didn't eat at Target, we went out to a nice restaurant with linen tablecloths, but first we went to Target. You really get to know someone in a Target: what kinda quilts are you into, what are you favorite movies, what kinda snacks do you like?" Perhaps there is some genius in this first date idea, as one could get a sense of who a person is by their Target purchases. Meanwhile, Azalea kept things low key, not purchasing anything too crazy at Target: "I got some socks and a ring pop," she says.
When asked whether she gets nervous about Young, 28, being famous and girls throwing themselves at him all the time, the rapper answered: "There's always going to be girls who want to do that. And when you have status yourself there will be girls who are going to want to smash who you're smashing." Other than that, Azalea kept mum about her high-profile relationship and refused to talk about her feelings. Asked if she loved Young, Azalea said: "I am not going to go that. He knows how I feel and I'm just enjoying myself." Azalea and Young's five month romance began after a flirty #WomanCrushWednesday Twitter exchange.
Iggy Azalea has been quite the busybody lately. The Australian rapper's song "Fancy" featuring Charli XCX is currently racing up the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She is also preparing for the release of her much-anticipated debut LP The New Classic, which will be out on April 15. She also recently recorded a cover of Diana Ross' classic song "I'm Coming Out" with R&B singer Keyshia Cole. The track was produced by Irv Gotti for "The Other Woman" movie soundtrack. "The Other Woman" starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Upton, is coming out later this month on April 25. Cole and Azalea's cover of "I'm Coming Out" brings a female perspective to the infectious chorus of Ross' song. They hand out advice to the ladies, put men in their place and generally bring it.
