Samung Galaxy S5 rumors are floating on the Web as a launch date in April inches closer and also because the release date comes on the heels of the HTC One M8 launch, which gave the Taiwanese phonemaker a lot of exposure to its flagship phone.
Since the Samsung Galaxy S5 launched during the MWC 2014 in Barcelona in February, rumors about the actual launch have been widely anticipated, since Samsung sports the hottest platform, Android that can take on Apple's iOS.
Now with the release of Apple's iOS 8, and an anticipated flagship iPhone 6, Samsung watchers are expected the Korean smartwatch maker to come up with tricks in a rabbit's hat to get the competition going ahead of a possible June or September iPhone 6 launch.
Currently, touch responsiveness is not a big deal for major smartphone makers like Samsung, Sony or HTC. The more talked about features and rumors revolve around brighter, bigger and better displays that have a complete array of hues, color capturing, accuracy, contrast ratio, viewing angles, and the pixels per inch.
It is safe to say that the display size of the smartphone has inched up to a minimum of 4.5" or even 5" on the high end. With the trend for bigger displays taking over the Android market, even the much awaited iPhone 6, aka iPhone Air because of its thinly packed frame, is expected to expand its screen size from the usual 4" to something closer to 4.7" and 5.5", which speaks for itself for the industry's trend.
DisplayMate Technologies is a big name in the display test kit business. The company has released a report on display characteristics of Samsung's latest flagship - the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Samsung Galaxy S5 was pronounced as having "the best performing smartphone display that we have ever tested" reports Display Mate’s Hitesh Arora.
The Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED 1080 x1920 pixel full-HD resolution.
Among the list of new records for Smartphone display performance by Galaxy S5 includes "highest brightness, lowest reflectance, highest colour accuracy, infinite contrast ratio, highest contrast rating in ambient light, and smallest brightness variation with viewing angle," according to DisplayMate.
The Galaxy S5 AMOLED display was given a better performance score in outdoor lighting than any other device. The Samsung Galaxy S5's display is about 22 percent better than that of the Galaxy S4 and 13 percent better than the Galaxy Note 3. The Cinema mode shows the most accurate display on a smartphone or tablet, said DisplayMate.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 scores above the S4 in power efficiency .
"In fact, the Galaxy S5 is 27 percent more power efficient than the full-HD LCD smartphones we recently tested for mixed image content (that includes photos, videos, and movies, for example) with a typical 50 percent Average Picture Level, APL."
Initially, Samsung's release of OLED was not able to take off, however, the Galaxy S5 is taking a bold step in challenging rivals.
