iPhone 6 release date countdown nears ahead of the World Developer's conference, where initial reports said Apple's flagship smartphone would be released. Rumors coinciding with iPhone 6 details suggest that the iPhone C's price may go down.
Recently, Apple recently released a 8GB phone that was cheaper than the iPhone 5c in Europe, with the media calling it the 'Apple's cheap phone' with a price tag under $100. Apparently, the iPhone 5c strategy in the China market wasn't too successful. And Apple is trying to make amends. But entering the low end smartphone or even feature phone market may not give apple sufficient margins to make significant profits.
Most of the iPhone 5S units have been sold in North America, since the price on the 5S was a hefty $300, a price tag that is unaffordable for the middle class in developed nations like China and India. However, the deal with ChinaMobile is still a significant door for Apple to expand its market. This comes on the heels of an over flooded or saturated market in N. American and Europe for the high end smartphone.
According to an online report by IBT, "The reason behind this was because iPhone 5C was a bit of a flop when it was released late last year. It ended up being a cheaper model of iPhone but still expensive compared to other smartphones in the market. According toDigitimes, more than 3 million iPhone 5C units are waiting for buyers, of which 2 million are stored in Pegatron's warehouses, while 1 million units are collecting dust in carriers' and retailers' shelves."
iDigitalTimes reported that consumers can expect to see the iPhone 6 release in September or October, which was the time frame when the iPhone 5s and the 5c were launched.
The so-called iPhone 6 may take the naming convention of its sibling iPad and be called the "Air." Recent leaked photos from a french site suggest that Apple's next-gen iPhone is to sport a thinner, lighter body with a larger display screen.
