A new Batman villain will make his appearance in Fox's TV's crime drama Batman prequel, Gotham and he has a habit of leaving riddles and clues to an opponent to solve. Edward Nygma a.k.a. The Riddler is cast in Gotham series and played by newcomer and theatre actor Corey Michael Smith and a look back at The Riddler's role in the Batman mythos.

This would Corey Michael Smith's big break in the small screen. He is known for his works in HBO miniseries Olive Kitteridge, Carol, and Camp X-Ray. He also worked recently in theatre on a Broadway Production of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" alongside Game of Thrones own Emilia Clarke.

The Riddler in the series plays a brilliant but socially awkward forensic scientist who's eccentric, outgoing and desperate to be liked. Riddler or Edward Nygma will make a cameo in the Pilot episode, but what do fans expect for him in the series and what does his eccentric behavior have an effect on his relationship with James Gordon and the rest of Gotham's Finest.

In the comics, The Riddler is one Batman's enemies and intellectual counterpart. His obsession of puzzles, riddles and not to mention border line envy and superiority complex have made quite impression of an intelligently dangerous criminal mastermind. He often leaves clues for the Dark Knight but the tricky part about them, once solved either it could be another clue or a death trap for people to solve it.

The Riddler has been popular in many media whether in the comics, animated cartoons, tv series and movies. So what can we expect for Nygma in the series, we'll just find the clues to answer to those questions as Gotham series is coming very soon.
