Anna Kendrick hosted SNL for the first time this past weekend. She started with a monologue that had her singing about her first time hosting SNL as "Belle" from the classic Disney movie Beauty and the Beast. Before breaking out in song, Kendrick says in her monologue,

"I got my start in musical theatre. When I was ten, my dad took me to see Beauty on the Beast on Broadway and I just knew I wanted to be up there, so to be here on this New York stage is so incredibly exciting. It just feels like something out of a story book." Kendrick received a Tony Award nomination when she was 12 years old for her work in the Broadway musical "High Society."

This wasn't the only Disney themed SNL skit of the night; Kendrick later did a turn as Ariel, whose musical tastes are less amenable to "Under the Sea" and more suited to Kesha and Britney Spears, in a Little Mermaid sketch.

Kendrick then joined the ladies of SNL for the ladies' version of the Emmy Award winning "Dick In A Box" song; they were joined by the pop group Icona Pop. The song is about a group of "International Nasty Girls" who fly around the world looking for dongs. Kendrick also outlines a 3 step procedure similar to the one that Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake outline in the original "Dick In A Box" song.

Kendrick has been all the buzz lately. She's drawing rave reviews for her work on Joe Swanberg's past two movies, "Drinking Buddies" and "Happy Christmas." She'll also be returning to her Broadway roots, as she's been cast as Cinderella in the adaptation of "Into the Woods."
