Oklahoma City Thunder Star Kevin Durant has been tearing up the stat sheet night in and night out. This season, he is averaging a beastly 32.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 5.5 apg on 50.5% fg shooting and 40% from the 3pt line. He is also the biggest reason why the Thunder is sitting atop the highly competitive Western Conference as he singlehandedly carried the team due to Russell Westbrook being out most of the season due to injury. That is just incredible efficiency and even LeBron James, last year's MVP, has nothing but praises for Durant.

"I would say he's the most consistent basketball player as far as the MVP this year, man," James said. "He's put up some great numbers."

"I think KD has had one heck of a season," James said of Durant, the league's leading scorer. "And, you know, if he's rewarded with the MVP, it would be great. It would be awesome for him, for his family. He's played MVP-type basketball. I don't really get caught up into what people say. At the end of the day, they have their own votes and they go from there."

Durant has been considered the front-runner for the award for much of the season and strengthened his candidacy by recently surpassing Michael Jordan's mark by scoring at least 25 points in 41 consecutive games. Durant's streak ended when he scored 23 in Tuesday's win at Sacramento.

Even Hall Of Famer Magic Johnson has expressed his opinion on who should be MVP this season. He said "Kevin Durant scoring 51 points tonight sealed the deal on the NBA MVP race." Durant also poured in 12 rebounds and 7 assists while draining 7-of-12 attempts from beyond the arc-including the game-winner from way downtown with 1.7 seconds left in the second overtime.

With Durant playing the best season of his NBA career, fans debate that it will be Durant's dynasty from this point on. Since LeBron is surrounded by two other All-Stars in Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, he doesn't need to put up monster numbers every night. Meanwhile, Durant is the type of player who has the purest offensive touch and can score in so many different ways. His game has also expanded as he is filling up the rebounding and assist department and he is just about to reach his prime.

Although nothing is final until the votes are tallied, of course. But Durant, hands down deserves to win the 2013-14 MVP award.
