Magic Mike 2 to be titled "Magic Mike XXL" will hit theaters on July 3, 2015. The sequel to the first "Magic Mike," a film that was inspired by Channing Tatum's past as a male stripper, was a sleeper critical hit of 2012. Upon receiving the Trailblazer award at the MTV Movie Awards, co-writer and star, Channing Tatum, shared a few details about the sequel's plot and casting, "We don't want to make some dark drama. There was some darkness in the last movie and I think it surprised people and shocked people. This one, we want to have a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a shit ton of fun. A shit ton of ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie, on the face of the earth, ever again."

Tatum and Magic Mike screenwriter Reid Carolin have been hard at work on the script for the sequel for a few months. The film is set to be directed by Gregory Jacobs, the original Magic Mike Director Steven Soderbergh's longtime assistant director. Jacobs has collaborated with the Soderbergh on almost 20 different movies over the past 15 years, according to the New York Daily News. The original "Magic Mike," directed by Steven Soderbergh earned $113.7 million at the box office. As for the cast, new Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello are rumored to be returning to the stage.

"Magic Mike XXL" will be joining the most crowded summer movie calendar. Warner Bros will release the sequel to "Magic Mike" on July 3, 2015. Marvel's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," will be released next summer on May 15, "Jurassic World" on June 12, and the "Despicable Me" spinoff, "The Minions" will be released on July 10.
