Cha Seung Won plays Seo Pan Suk, the captain of the violent crimes unit in the upcoming drama "You're Surrounded." He will show rookie cops Lee Seung Gi and Ahn Jae Hyun the rules and the ropes.
Cha Seung Won described his character as being very friendly but with a volcanic temper. Seo Pan Suk is also passionate about finding justice.
"He always fights for what's right," said Cha.
Before the actor decided to put on his drama badge, he was best known for playing the insufferable actor Dokko Jin in the Hong Sisters comedy "The Greatest Love." The character inspired many parodies and became a pop culture phenomenon. And his portrayal earned awards.

1. It's not the first time the actor will play a police officer. Nor is it the only time this year he will sport a badge. In the film "High Heels," due to be released in June, he plays a police officer with a fondness for heels.
"I am playing a police detective who is a good fighter and wants to be a woman," he told "Section TV Entertainment News." For the interview he showed up wearing a mini skirt.
2. Cha Seung Won was a successful model. He dropped out of the prestigious Sungkyunkwan University in 1988 to model. A year later, the 20-year-old student married Lee Soo Jin, 24. He modeled for a few years then made his acting debut in the sitcom "New York Story" in 1997.
3. His role in "You're Surrounded" will not be his first time working with actor Lee Seung Gi. The younger actor did a cameo in "The Greatest Love" and the two actors also did a commercial for a refrigerator together.
4. He is intensely protective of his family. He and his wife have two children, a daughter Cha Ye Ni, also known as Rachel, and a son, Cha No Ah, known as Noah.
"I have to be there for them," he said in an interview with 10Asia. "I want to protect my family and be their fence. Being in entertainment, there are many elements that try to encroach on the boundaries of our lives. So I need to protect them. I've said this before but I'm a very aggressive person. And I will stay this way. I don't care if that doesn't make me a nice guy when I need to make a decision to protect my family.
5. The tattoo he sported in "The Greatest Love" is real. It says Rachel and he acquired it out of affection for his daughter, who he says recharges his energy levels whenever he sees her.
