The actor, who now appears as Kang Ji Woon, a neurosurgeon in the drama "Angel Eyes," might look familiar but maybe you can't quite remember where you saw him last. That could be because two of Kim Ji Suk's last drama roles were characters that were not so considerate or caring. Among his most recent drama roles, he was the unethical social broker in "Cheomdamdong Alice" and the backstabbing boyfriend in "Personal Taste."
Obviously he doesn't always play a bad guy. Here are a few things you may not know about the actor.
1. He's gifted in languages. Before deciding to become an actor, he majored in German at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, planning to be a language teacher. Because he went to middle and high school in England, he's also fluent in English. But he admits he did not appreciate his time in England when he was there.
"I was lucky to have attended middle and high school in England," he said. "I was able to play soccer on vast green fields, but at the time I didn't appreciate it. I still dream about those green fields sometimes."
2. His intro into acting had nothing to do with his language skills. He debuted as a rapper in the boy band LEO, which disbanded after eight months.
3. He thinks Korean women are the most beautiful in the world. When he was interviewed for a Cosmopolitan spread, he said that he saw so many pretty women near the Gangnam station in Seoul that it made his heart beat wildly.
4. While shooting the horror film "Two Moons," he made a joke about a co-star that got him in trouble. He said he had developed feelings for his co-star actress Park Han Byul then had to explain himself.
"I made that confession as a joke," he said. But it definitely upset Park Han Byul who said she was shocked to hear it.
He felt the need to publicly state he was joking.
5. He has known Sunny of Girls Generation since she was in fifth grade.
"I was friends with her father so I visited the house a lot," he said. She was a cute child but he admits that it still came as a shock to see her as an adult.
"No I get nervous when I see her on TV," he said.
