Gerard Butler has a number of new movies coming out soon! The 44 year old actor is currently in Sydney, Australia filming his next flick "Gods of Egypt," which also stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), Brenton Thwaites (Maleficient), and Geoffrey Rush. The $150 million fantasy flick is directed by Alex Proyas and co-written with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The film will be released worldwide on February 12, 2016. The film is about a human thief (Thwaites) who joins the quest of a god to get revenge on another god. Butler stars as Set, a god of desert, storms and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion.

Butler recently opened up to Australian site News.com.au about the film, saying, "it's the largest budget movie I have ever worked on. It's huge in every dimension. It's huge in its scope. And it's story. And visually. [I, Robot's] Alex Proyas is the man. Everything about the movie feels bang on." He added, "I am going to be down there three and a half weeks before we start just so I can be in among it for all the training and the dialect sessions and the rehearsals."


After "Gods Of Egypt," Butler will star in "London Has Fallen," which was recently announced to have been given a release date of October 2, 2015, according to Variety. Focus Features has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to "London Has Fallen," which is a sequel to "Olympus Has Fallen." "London Has Fallen" will go up against Fox's "Frankenstein" on the date. Butler is confirmed to have returned for the sequel; however hte movie currently does not have a director. The story will take place in London with an attack on the city during the funeral of the British prime minister, who has died under mysterious circumstances. Butler will reprise his role as a U.S. Secret Service agent. The script for "London Has Fallen" is written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt and Christian Gudegast. "Olympus Has Fallen," also starring Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhart, was released in March of last year. The film grossed $98.9 million at the domestic box office.
