Pitch Perfect 2 is filling out its cast. Adam DeVine has just been confirmed as the latest addition. He will reprise his role as Bumper Allen in the highly anticipated musical comedy flick, according to Deadline.
The 30-year-old Workaholics actor will join the "Pitch Perfect 2" cast which has already confirmed the return of Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick, Alexis Knapp, Brittany Snow, Ester Dean and Hana Mae Lee. Last week, Oscar nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld was confirmed to join the cast! The movie will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, who will also star in the movie, and the script will be written by Kay Cannon, who wrote the screenplay for the first Pitch Perfect movie.
DeVine's character left towards the middle of the first Pitch Perfect movie to take a job as one of John Mayer's backup singers, so it's unclear as to how Bumper will be come back into the story. The plot of the sequel remains a mystery, aside from Banks stating in an interview that the sequel will fast forward to the cast during their senior year of college. The original movie, which followed a rag tag college a cappella group was a surprise hit! It cost 17 million to make and went on to make $113 million in the global box office. It also yielded the best-selling soundtrack of 2013 including Kendrick's single "Cups", which charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
Hailee Steinfeld became an overnight sensation in 2010 for her role in the movie True Grit, a dark and violent Western, which saw the young actress hold her own alongside veteran actors Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin. Steinfeld was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role and a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. It is unclear what her role will be in the Pitch Perfect sequel.
Pitch Perfect 2 will be released May 15, 2015.
