Ellen Page says she is “happier” after going public about being gay. The 27-year-old "X-Men: Days of Future Past" opened up about her life after her coming out announcement back on Valentine’s Day.

“I get more hate, honestly, about dressing androgynously than about being gay. It blows my mind,” Ellen Page said in an interview to the Hollywood Reporter. She is also on the cover of the magazine’s Cannes issue.

As for her life after coming out, Page says, “I knew I would be happier. But I wouldn’t have anticipated just how f—ing happy I am and how every tiny little aspect of my life feels better.” The “Inception” actress made her coming out announcement on Valentine's Day in Las Vegas earlier this year at the Time to Thrive social-welfare seminar for LGBT youth, Five minutes into her speech she announced: "I am here today because I am gay."

Page, who plays Kitty Pride in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" (which will hit theaters on May 23) also talked about her hatred of dresses: "I would rather be in boy underwear with my hands on my tits," she confessed in the interview.

On last night's Colbert Report, Page made an even braver announcement: She's an out-and-proud Canadian as well. Page was on the popular news show to promote the new X-Men: Days Of Future Past film.

Colbert pressed Page about her national identity, questioning her at what age she came to terms with the fact that she was Canadian. “I have one problem with you,” Colbert said to her. “You came out as openly Canadian,” he accused the actress. “How young were you when you found out you were Canadian?” "As soon as I had any form of consciousness, I knew, I knew," Page confessed to Colbert. The funny duo then talked about the movie and how it’s about people who are different.
