"Constantine" cast Matt Ryan's portrayal as demon hunter and master of the occult might be better than the Keanu Reeves version in the 2005 film because the TV series is loyal to character, the Hellblazer comics has envisioned. Meanwhile, NBC may have found its new "Blacklist," considered to be one of the most successful new shows.

With a $100 million budget, the 2005 "Constantine" film starring Keanu Reeves grossed over $230 million worldwide. While the film received mixed reviews, fans of the Hellblazer comics remained loyal.

Comic fan Mike Miersen,in his article for entertainmentfuse.com, claims that NBC's adaptation of the Hellblazer comics looks promising based on the trailer released by the network. He said that although he liked Keanu Reeves' version, it wasn't a Hellblazer movie.

Talking about "Constantine" cast Matt Ryan, Mike Miersen said: "He's British, blond, rough looking, passionate and disinterested at once, and almost as sarcastic as he has to be. Honestly, for NBC, it's nearly spot on."

"Constantine" cast Matt Ryan will play the character John Constantine, based on the Hellblazer comics, a demon hunter who "specializes in giving hell ... hell." When demons target Liv, the daughter of John Constantine's best friend, he comes out of retirement in order to save her.

The L.A. Times' Hero Complex also approves of "Constantine" cast Matt Ryan's portrayal. "Judging from the new trailer, the NBC series ... appears more faithful to Constantine's cynical, disaffected origins than 2005′s feature film "Constantine," starring Keanu Reeves."

NBC might have likewise hit a goldmine in the new "Constantine" series which has the potential to supplant "The Blacklist" as the hottest new show with Niel Marshall ("Game of Thrones") appearing to come up with the right blend of "the macabre and dry humor," IGN reported.

The website also adds that NBC might have reversed its fortunes and later attract viewers with a good mixture of sitcoms, thrillers, comedies and TV shows.
