"Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch has inked a role as a soldier for "The Yellow Birds" as he rocked a 1970s inspired shades at the Park Theatre Gala on Saturday.
"Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch will join the cast that also includes Will Poulter of "We're The Millers" and Tye Sheridan, who people may know from the critically acclaimed movie starring Matthew McConaughey, "Mud."
"The Yellow Birds" is a story about young soldiers who are being mentored and protected by a veteran sergeant when they are all deployed to the country, the UK's Mirror said.
The film is adapted from the Kevin Powers' novel, which also has the same name. The author served for the US Army deployed in Iraq as a machine gunner from 2004-2005, the publication added.
David Lowery ("Ain't Them Bodies Saints"), who will write the screenplay and also direct the movie, said that he really had no interest in making a war film until he was introduced to the novel by producers Evan Hayes and Jeffrey Sharp.
"And perhaps I still don't, because while Powers' story takes place during wartime, it isn't about the conflict. It is about characters who find themselves caught up in war, but who struggle to not let it define them," he said.
Meanwhile, "Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch arrived at the Park Theater in London last aturday to attend a gala hosted by Sir Ian McKellan, MailOnline reported. Although he looked very dapper in his two-piece suit with a black tie, his 1970s glasses provided a stark contrast to the rest of his outfit.
"Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who also played Khan in the recent "Star Trek movie, was last seen partying with Prince William at the Windsor Castle and then proceeded to join the panel at BBC for the presentation of the Chelsea Flower Show. His mom, Wanda, was also in attendance.
