Charlize Theron and Sean Penn have been dating for four months now. 'A Million Ways To Die In The West' actress has revealed that she and Sean Penn both thought very carefully before allowing their 18-year friendship to grow into love in an interview to Matt Lauer on NBC's The Today Show on Monday May 19.

Theron recently spoke to Vogue about her relationship with Penn, saying "Sean and I have known each other for eighteen years. We were just really good friends and it's been slow going because you are aware that you could screw that up and lose it. We had to think about it. But at the end of the day, it was somewhat effortless."

When asked about marriage, Theron said, "Let's put it this way: I never had the dream of the white dress" in the June issue of Vogue, on newsstands May 27.

The 'Monster' actress confessed to Matt Lauer on the Today Show that she's "not an expert" on making that transition from friendship to love.

Theron said, "If you have that kind of enduring friendship like we did, you value it and you don't want to just make an impulsive decision that can damage that."

"You always kind of have to evaluate or re-evaluate your actions moving forward. You just can't willy-nilly it."

Theron was on The Today Show to talk about her new comedy, "A Million Ways To Die In The West" with Seth MacFarlane.

She revealed that "A Million Ways To Die In The West" co-star Seth MacFarlane constantly cracked her up, adding: "He's a real guy; he's not 'on.' He's not trying to be funny; he just naturally is."

The actress also added that she would like to make more comedies.

"I'm not a very overly dramatic person; I'm a bit of a dork," she said. "Everybody who knows me always says, "Why don't you do comedy? You fall really well!""
