CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa and actor Lee Jin Wook are both up for roles in an upcoming drama titled "The Three Musketeers."
Loosely based on the Alexander Dumas novel of the same name, the drama will be a fusion saeguk about three Joseon-era adventurers who travel through China. One of those men is Park Dal Hyang, a man of poor but of noble birth, who winds up serving Crown Prince So Hyun and his warrior guards.
There is no word on which actor is up for the part of Park Dal Hyang.
The big-scale drama has a budget of around $10 million and will be filmed in China. It will last for three seasons.
Jung Yong Hwa and his agency have met with the production company, JS Pictures.
"It's true that we met with Yong Hwa concerning his possible casting," said a JS representative. "Since he is a Hallyu star, he would have to make a lot of adjustments to his schedule. It's too early to say anything for sure."
The actor last appeared in "Future's Choice" with Yoon Eun Hye, and previously appeared in "You're Beautiful" and "Heartstrings."
Lee Jin Wook's agency, HB Entertainment says they are discussing the final details with the production company. They seem to have made a commitment
"We worried about how to get into this drama, but after much discussion about the circumstances, the script, the writers, and the production company, we made our final decision," said the HB Entertainment representative. "We really enjoyed reading the script for the first four episodes. Lee Jin Wook was also determined. Because of these things, it was not hard to decide on his participation."
The filming will demand more time than shorter dramas.
"It's not like we will be filming a series of 16 to 20 episodes so we have to discuss the exact details," said the HB Entertainment representative.
Lee Jin Wook may also be eager to participate in this project as he worked with the screenwriter and director in his last successful drama, "Nine: Nine Time Travels."
Song Jae Jung, the scriptwriter for "Queen Inhyun's Man" and "Nine" has written the script. Kim Byung Soo, who directed "Nine," will direct.
Before "Nine," Lee Jin Wook appeared in "I Need Romance 2012" and this year he appeared in the films "Miss Granny" and "The Target."
"The Three Musketeers" will begin filming at the end of June and is set to air in August.
