Cali Swag District's JayAre is dead at 25. It's sad, sad, sad news for "Teach Me How to Dougie" hitmakers. After M-Bone - whose real name is Montae Talbert - was shot to death in 2011, another member of Cali Swag District named JayAre was declared dead last Thursday, June 5. Cali Swag District member JayAre died from cardiac arrest during his hospital stay on Thursday night.
One of the last two surviving members sent a tribute to Cali Swag District's JayAre - whose real name is Cahron Child - via Twitter, saying: Sickle cell took my brother away from me today," he wrote. "With that being said I'm proud to know that with that disease he made the best of his life."
Prior to Cali Swag District's JayAre's death, he has been reported suffering from sickle cell anemia but it was not confirmed if he has been dealing with the disease for a long time. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the actual reason why Cali Swag District's JayAre admitted to the hospital is never known.
Cali Swag District first achieved breakthrough success in music when they released their debut single "Teach Me How to Dougie" in 2010, which even lead "Dougie" becoming one of the most popular dance hits in the said year. The song reached the sixth spot on US Billboard Hot Rap Songs and was even included in the Billboard Hot 100 singles of the year. However, the group's music career was haltered when M-Bone was shot and killed in 2011 while staying in their hometown Inglewood.
