"Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" star Stevie J was arrested by police for failing to pay child support as he owes baby mama $1,107,412 in back payments.
According to TMZ, "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" star Stevie J was arrested because of the two kids he had with his baby mama, Carol Bennett, back in 1997 or 1998. The reality star was ordered to pay up in support around $6,600 a month in 1999 then raised to $8,557 after acknowledging paternity for both children.
However, for an unknown reason, he dropped all child support payments in 2001.
"Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" star Stevie J was arrested in his home in Atlanta Monday night, said USA Today.
In the report, the news site quoted Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara as saying that Stevie J, real name Steven Jordan, still haven't gotten around to paying child support for his kids despite earning "substantial income from his participation in a reality television show."
The attorney revealed that Stevie J is being paid $27,000 per month for participating in the reality show since October of 2012. That means, from January 2013 to August 2013, "Love & Hip Hop" star Stevie J earned $193,000 from the show.
"Love & Hip Hop" star Stevie J was arrested then charged with one count for failing to comply with child support order. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison.
The New York Daily News said that Stevie J is a rap producer that has won the Grammy Awards and was the "in-house hit-maker" for Bad Boy Records, owned by P. Diddy. He was the creative mind behind the track "Mo Money Mo Problems" performed by the late Notorious B.I.G.
The website, Celebrity Net Worth, meanwhile, placed "Love & Hip Hop" star Stevie J's financial status as somewhere around $3 million.
