Mexico vs. Cameroon will face each other on June 13th, Friday. But Friday the 13th may not be a bad omen in Brazil since three World Cup 2014 matches will be played.
With Brazil making an epic start at the FIFA World Cup 2014 on the first day match vs. Croatia, both Mexico and Cameroon will have to bear the brunt of the pressure to make it to the next around seeded no. 2. The second match of Brazil World Cup 2014 will be played at Arena das Dunas in Natal - Mexico vs. Cameroon.
Historically, Mexico has had an 'evergreen' presence in the Fifa World Cup. There haven't been many world cups when Mexico did not qualify. More than that, Mexico leads attacks well and makes defending a tough job for its opponent, tiring out the other side till Mexico has a chance to score - that's been Mexico's consistent strategy.
Cameroon, however, are all about athletics and sheer power. Samuel Eto'o is Cameroon's veteran striker and the side has been nicknamed, 'The Indomitable lions' for their strength and speed at which they occupy all sides of the pitch.
Mexico had a good run in 2010, and they usually make it to the second round of a World Cup. Four years ago, they defeated France in group play to move up to the round of 16. Manchester United's Javier Hernandez is a familiar player for Europeans and South Americans alike and his presence will be an impetus for Mexico to produce goals. Hernandez will be hungry for goals to get his national side into the next level of competition.
Giovanni dos Santos and Hector Herrera will both midfield while former-Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez will captain Mexico in World Cup 2014. Cameroon too have experienced players like Alex Song, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Jean Makoun.
On Thursday BST, three matches will be played: Mexico vs Cameroon (Group A), Spain vs Netherlands (Group B), and Chile vs Australia (Group B).
