British Broadcasting Corporation announces its first music event, the BBC Music Awards 2014, to take place at Earls Court on Thursday, December 11. The BBC Music Awards 2014 will be hosted by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton as reported by Digital Spy. The BBC Music Awards 2014 was revealed during the British corporation's launch of its BBC Music strategies today, June 16.

According to director-general Tony Hall, he said: "Today's the start of something very special for everyone who loves music. BBC Music is a celebration of the brilliant musical talent across our country. BBC Music will be about putting music right at the heart of the BBC & supporting young British talent in new & surprising ways." BBC Music Awards 2014 targets to broaden the media company's broadcasting and commissioning music and at the same time to promote UK's music across the world.

The BBC Music Awards 2014 will have live performances from top British and international music acts from the past 12 months prior to the start of the award show. While there is no listed performers and nominees yet for the upcoming BBC Music Awards 2014, award categories will include British Artist of the Year, International Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year. It is anticipated that more award categories will come as the music event progresses until its targeted premiere date.

BBC Music Awards 2014 will air on BBC One and will have simultaneous coverage on Radio 1, Radio 2 and The One Show.
