Brazil World Cup 2014 Schedle: Group Fixtures,Italy vs.Uruguay 0-1.

Italy V Uruguay

ESTADIO DAS DUNAS , NATAL, 25 JUNE 2014

Italy Match Completed Uruguay
0 FINAL SCORE 1

After a 1-0 win over Italy at the Arena das Dunas, Uruguay just managed to squeeze through the to the next round with six points, behind Costa Rica who won 2 games and scored 3 goals in Group D.

Italy will leave in the first round, the second for Italy in 2 consecutive World Cups after losing to Uruguay with three points and 1 win.

This time it was not Louis Suarez who did the goal scoring but Captain Diego Godin, shouldering in a corner past Uruguay goalie Buffon in the 81 mn. Both players were down on the floor with Suarez appearing to have lost a tooth. But to mention Suarez biting Chiellini on the shoulders in passing, it appears that every great footballer of our times has something 'weird, maladaptive habits' on the pitch.

Recollecting other brilliant footballers who lived on the wild side, Maradona is probably the only player who will ever score with his hand in a World Cup match. It was overlooked by referees at the time.

Louis Suarez was banned for 10-matches after biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last year.

Suarez shows great potential as a rising football star, but FIFA may have to bring up the 'biting' issue after he was suspended twice for doing the same thing. It's not out of the way to think why Italy might be a bit disconcerted at the very least with this match. If Suarez had been booked, Uruguay would have 10 men standing. There was a chance their for Italy to seize their opportunity to advance and they must be thinking what if?

In a second scenario that changed Italy's momentum, the red card on Claudio Marchisio could have gone either way and critics say it was on the harsh side. The foul on Egidio Rios in the 59th mn is debatable.

At the beginning of the match Italian captainn Gianlugi Buffon made a couple of excellent saves fending off Suarez and Nicolas Lodeiro. Balotelli's challenge raising his foot on Cristian Rodriguez got him a yellow card, which means he would not have played even if Italy had advanced.
