Writer John Green is best known for his bestselling book The Fault In Our Stars, which was adapted into an equally successful movie starring Shailene Woodley.

Fans of the writer have been eagerly anticipating the screen adaptation of his debut novel, Looking for Alaska. In fact, plenty of blogs and forums have intense discussion about their dream cast for the book's film version. Popular names that have popped up are Perks of Being A Wallflower's Logan Lerman and Skins actress Kaya Scodelario.

Paramount Pictures actually bought the rights to the book way back in 2005. But production has not been greenlighted until Green's other novel, The Fault in Our Stars, proved to be a box-office hit, earning $100 million.

Now, with Polley being named as director, it looks like things are moving forward for the book's jump to the big screen.

Green has confirmed this news on Twitter, saying: "So excited to announce that the brilliant filmmaker Sarah Polley will be writing and directing a film adaptation of Looking for Alaska. I'm a HUGE fan of Sarah's movies, and her ideas about Looking for Alaska are really wonderful, and I am SO VERY EXCITED."

Polley has directed movies such as Away From Her, Stories We Tell, and even starred in the zombie flick Dawn of the Dead. She will bring to life the coming-of-age novel set in a boarding school, where a boy named Miles Halter meets a feisty, sexy, and funny young woman named Alaska Young, who turns his world upside down.

The book has been awarded the 2006 Michael L. Printz award, and it is being taught in many high schools and colleges. It has also been translated to fifteen languages.

Aside from Looking For Alaska, another of Green's novels will be made into a movie. Paper Towns will star Nat Wolff, who also appeared in The Fault In Our Stars.
