Tom Hardy New Movie: English Actor Reunites With Inception Co-Star DiCaprio In The Revenant; Director Inarritu To Direct Tale of Vengeance

Tom Hardy will once again be seen on the big screen with Inception co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. This time, Hardy will co-star with DiCaprio in a movie to be directed by Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, entitled The Revenant.

The Mexican film director is known for his violent and dramatic movies such as 21 Grams, Babel, and Amores Perros, and The Revenant is no different.

Those familiar with the director's raw, visceral work eagerly anticipate a first-rate, intense performance from DiCaprio, and an equally provocative one from Hardy.

The film, set in the 19th century, is about Hugh Glass (to be played by DiCaprio), a fur-trapper who is robbed and abandoned by his friends after he is attacked by a grizzly bear. Un____ Glass escapes death, roams the woods, before going on a mission to exact revenged on those who left him for dead.

This incredible story of Glass was first seen on the big screen in 1971's Man In The Wilderness where British actor Richard Harris plays the abandoned furtrapper.

It is presumed that Hardy will be taking the role of the leader of the group who decided to abandon Glass after the attack.

The English actor has been since taking up leading-man roles after his memorable performance as the villain Bane, in the Dark Knight Rises. His movies Child 44, and The Drop, have proven that he can topbill a movie as its main star.

In fact, he will also be taking on the very iconic role of Max Rockatansky, in the reboot of the hit Mad Max franchise. The original role was a breakthrough one for Mel Gibson, and it seems that this role would further prove Hardy's star potential.

So this role in The Revenant seems like a step-back for Hardy's path to stardom. But really, who can say no to an Inarritu movie where Leonardo DiCaprio is a co-star?

The Revenant is set to hit theaters in 2015.
