News spread out when Dwyane Wade announced that he will be opting out of his contract from the Miami Heat. Wade will be leaving 2 years and 41 million worth just to become a free agent.
This means that He will be added to the rosters of new free agents including teammate LeBron James and New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony.
A lot has been asking how Wade will be fairing in the free agent market knowing that he has been fighting injuries which deteriorates his performance in the court.
Wade had a horrible post season having averaged a measly 17.8 points per game but noting that this was higher compared to last year in which Miami had won the championships. What sports enthusiast noticed is that Wade was not at his best during Game 4 and Game of the NBA finals which was critical for the team to win. The 32 year old point guard only had 10 points in game 4 and 11 points in game 5.
Wade is represented by Henry Thomas, the same agent for Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem. According to Miami president Pat Riley "Dwyane has been the cornerstone of our organization for over a decade, and we hope he remains a part of the Heat family for life." He added "Udonis has been the heartbeat of this team for 11 years. He has sacrificed countless times to make this organization successful, and he is the epitome of what this organization stands for. We look forward to meeting with Dwyane and Udonis and their agent in the coming days to discuss our future together."
Heat owner still remains optimistic on Wade's performance for a championship team saying "He's a champion. He's a world champion and he's a Miami Heat for life, he's an icon. He's one of the great players in the world."
Wade will become a free agent starting July 1 and the game of choosing which team he will be moving to still remains a big question to a lot of people. Whether Heat will bid for Wade to stay to the team, no one knows. But what's clear is that a lot of great players has been opting out and trying the free agent market.
