Kim Sae Ron will turn 14 this year and she already has a film career that any actress might brag about. This year alone she appears in "Manhole," "Girl At My Door" and "Manshin." She won a "Best Actress" award for her role in the 2010 film "Man From Nowhere."
And she's no stranger to the small screen either. She was last seen in "The Queen's Classroom" and plays an angel in "High School Love On" with Infinite's Woohyun and Sungyeol.
As an actress she gets to experience a few things many teens only dream of. For example:
1. She went to the Cannes Film Festival for the second time this year She attended the screening and press conference for her latest movie "A Girl At My Door".
The movie was well received and that made her happy.
"The audience gave us a standing ovation, and I was overwhelmed with emotions. [At first] I was worried what they would think of the movie. But since a standing ovation meant they enjoyed the movie, I cried tears of joy."
2. She gets to explore the darker side of human nature without negative consequences. She does not find it difficult to play dark characters. When filming is over, she has no problem letting the characters go.
"When I'm shooting a movie, I instantly become the character and I act," she told GQ. "When I'm done shooting, I go back to my normal self. That's because what happens to the character stops eventually, what happens to me is my life."
3. When she was 12 she got to spend time with actor Won Bin filming "The Man From Nowhere."
When asked by enews to compare her co-stars Won Bin and Lee Chun Hee, she answered in a careful manner.
"Both of them are nice," she said. "Lee Chun Hee is very kind and gentle, but he completely changes when he acts. I think I can learn a lot from him as an actor."
Won Bin sent his co-star friendly texts but she was so busy with school and work that she often ignored them. The film's director said that she might be the only person in Korea that would ignore Won Bin's texts.
4. She got to do a music video with Block B. In their video for the song Jackpot, members of the band chase her through an abandoned amusement park.
5. She gets to model beautiful clothes. The actress has been photographed in glamorous and sophisticated looks for magazines such as Vogue and Allure.
For a child star she is surprisingly serious.
"Despite my young age, I think people see me as an actress and not as a child actor," she said. "It seems that these days, the definition of child actor has become equivalent with playing the childhood role of a certain adult character. And this is why I like being called an actress as it means people are seeing me in a different way."
