Gone Girl Movie Trailer: Today the second trailer for the new Ben Affleck movie, Gone Girl, was released. The murder-mystery is based on the bestselling book by author Gillian Flynn, who is also the film's screenwriter.
Gone Girl follows the Dunne couple and the media frenzy that surrounds them when Amy (played in the movie by Rosamund Pike) vanishes on the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary. Nick (Ben Affleck) becomes the main suspect of her murder.
The trailer looks like a typical David Fincher movie, dark, brooding and chilling -- and the actors are at their performance best, especially Affleck as the embattled husband.
This character driven mystery drama has been teasing viewers by dropping clues in both the trailers, as well as the movie posters that feature objects wrapped in evidence plastic bags.
One poster shows a photo of the happy couple, snapped during their wedding as they are surrounded by friends. But the catch is that the photos is enclosed in plastic bag labeled, "Evidence." The photos caption says, ironically enough, "Happy Anniversary." The posters also announced today's second trailer premiere.
Three more posters have been released, each one showing an object that has been bagged and tagged as evidence: red, lacy underwear, a scalpel, and a scrap of paper with burnt edges, which is from Amy's diary. It reads, "This man may kill me."
We also see for the first time Neil Patrick Harris, in what looks to be an important role, playing Amy's old college boyfriend Desi Collings.
Fox studios is doing a good job in releasing marketing materials to the public, without giving away too much. The trailer still leaves plenty of room for imagination, especially when it comes to the movie's twists and turns. The teaser trailers and posters have all had audience' anticipation up for this murder mystery, and some critics are even talking of possible Oscar nods.
The movie will hit cinemas on October 3.
