The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards announced the nominees with the help of the The Voice's Carson Daly and The Mindy Project's Mindy Kaling last Thursday, and already there is an outpour of reactions from celebrities who were included in the list! Here are some of the best and funniest reactions from your favorite celebrities.
"I am so glad you love Violet so much. These nominations keep her from kicking the bucket," says Dame Maggie Smith, who is nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Dowager Countess on Downton Abbey.
"That's amazing news to start the day with here in Boston! An early birthday present. I'm honored to be in such great company, not least Martin. Thrilled for all who make Sherlock and especially those who have been nominated in so many categories," says Benedict Cumberbatch of British TV series Sherlock, who's nominated for the series' penultimate episode His Last Vow as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie.
"We are very proud of Adam. He's a gift to our show and our lives! And he's too classy 4 twitter," Girls' star Lena Dunham said on her Twitter account, congratulating co-star Adam Driver, who got a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Jimmy Fallon also used his Twitter account to react to the Emmy news. "So happy to be nominated for an Emmy this morning. And even happier to have an excuse for the champagne I was already drinking at 9am," he said about his two nominations. One for the late night show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon as Outstanding Variety Series and Writing for a Variety Series and one for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live.
"I'm so honored to be nominated. And so thrilled for Joe Morton and Kate Burton! I'm crazy grateful that the TV Academy has acknowledged our show in these ways," said Kerry Washington, who was once again nominated as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Scandal.
Mayim Bialik, who's nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Amy in The Big Bang Theory said, "How incredibly humbling to be nominated not only a third time but among a group of such exceptionally talented and critically acclaimed actresses. This is truly proof that among women like this, the third time will NOT be the charm for me!!!"
Aaron Paul, who took to Twitter to express his gratitude for being nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad said, "What a beautiful way to wake up this morning. Thank you everyone for the incredibly kind words. I feel so blessed. #Emmys"
