Which Samsung tablet device is the better choice for consumers? We pit the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 against the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 to see which is better.
For the design and diplay, Both tablets have a display with the same size of 8.4 inches and a rendered resolution of 2,560×1,600pixels (359ppi). The only difference is that the Galaxy Tab Pro has a Super clear LCD display, while the Galaxy Tab S has a Super AMOLED one. Both dsiplays have vivid and sharper videos and images, but the Tab S benefits more from advanced display technology. The WQXGA screen presents over 90 percent of Adobe RGB color coverage, with a contrast ratio of 100,000:1.
The Galaxy Tab S resembles a lot like the Galaxy S5 smartphone, having a perforated textured back panel. It is 0.26 inches thick and weighs 294 grams.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab Pro has a faux-leather back, with stitches on the edges, like many of Samsung’s tablets. It is 41 grams heavier and it’s 0.28 inches thick.
In terms of hardware and OS, the Galaxy Tab S has a non-LTE version which is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz quad-core & 1.3GHz quad-core (Exynos), while the LTE version comes with a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800). The Galaxy Tab Pro is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800). The difference is that the Tab S hosts 3GB of RAM, while the Tab Pro has 2GB of RAM.
Both tablets run on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS, with Samsung’s UI and have two variants of internal memories: 16 and 32GB, but Tab S’s memory is expandable up to 128GB, while the Tab Pro’s memory is expandable only up to 64GB.
For camera specs and battery usage, Both tables have an 8MP primary camera (LED flash). The secondary camera on the Tab Pro is 2MP, while the Tab S has a 2.1MP front camera.
The also have non-removable Li-Ion batteries, but the difference is that the Galaxy Tab S’s battery has a slightly higher capacity of 4900mAh, with Ultra Power Saving mode, while the Galaxy Tab Pro’s battery has a capacity of 4800mAh.
Other features include LTE and non-LTE (or WiFi only) variants. Only the Tab S has a fingerprint scanner, while the Tab Pro has these variant of shades: white and black, while the Tab S comes is available in dazzling white and titanium bronze and shades.
