Which smartphone is the ideal choice for consumers? We pit the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra against the LG G3 to see which is better.
For the design and display, the LG G3 has a slightly bigger display than its rival, measuring 5.5 inches (True HD-IPS + LCD), which supports a resolution of 1440x2560pixels and a pixel density of 534ppi. The smartphone has a unique design and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It measures 146.3×74.6×8.9 mm and it weighs 149 grams.
The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra has a 6 inches display (IPS LCD) with a resolution of 720x1280pixels and a pixel density of 245ppi. The screen allows multitouch, being a Triluminos display with Mobile BRAVIA engine 2.
In terms of hardware and OS, the LG G3 has a 2.5GHz quad core Krait 400 CPU which is backed by a MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 chipset and an Adreno 330 GPU . The smartphone is available in two variants of RAM + internal storage: 16GB with 2GB of RAM, while the other combination is 32GB of internal storage + 3GB of RAM. Both internal memories are expandable up to 128GB and it runs on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS.
The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra has a 1.4GHz quad Cortex-A7, which couples with a MSM 8928 Snapdragon 400 chipset, an Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Its internal memory is of 8GB which is expandable for up to 32GB and the phone is running on the Android platform, coming initially with 4.3 (Jelly Bean) which was upgraded to the 4.4.2 (KitKat) version in between.
For battery and camera specs, the LG G3 has a removable battery with the capacity of 3000mAh which should withstand 2 days on normal usage. The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra has also a Li-Ion battery with the capacity of 3000mAh, but it’s non removable and it also last 2 days.
The LG unit has a 13MP camera on the back with 4160x3120pixels, optical image stabilization, phase detection/laser autofocus, dual LED flash, 1/3” sensor size, geo tagging, simultaneous video and image recording, HDR, face detection and video recording at 2160p@30fps, or 1080p@30fps. The phone has another 2.1MP camera on the front.
The Sony unit also has a 13MP camera on the back, but with fewer features: 4128x3096pixels, LED flash, autofocus, HDR, geo tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, face detection, sweep panorama and video recording at 1080p@30fps. The secondary camera is at 1.1MP.
The LG G3 32GB can be purchased from amazon.com for $649 dollars, while the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra cost only $340.
