While director Tim Burton seems to have disappeared from movie making, the fact is that the master of the macabre has just been gearing up for his next movie. After 2012's Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie, the Tim Burton's next movie is Big Eyes. And today, we get to catch a glimpse of the first couple of stills from the movie.

USA Today released the first and exclusive images of Tim Burton's Big Eyes. The movie stills feature Amy Adams (Enchanted) and Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) in the movie that revolves around artist Margaret Keane.

Margaret Keane is an American artist born in 1927 whose paintings mainly depict women and children using oil and mixed media. Her works are distinct for the big, doe eyes of the subject, hence the title of the Tim Burton movie, Big Eyes.

Amy Adams will be playing Margaret Keane, the artist who became popular in the 1950s for the distinctive enormous eyes of the subjects of her paintings.

Hers is a story with an unfortunate conflict at its center, when her husband Walter (played by Waltz) starts grabbing credit for some of the work that she has done. The whole thing goes to court with each even trying to prove through live demonstration"paint-offs" that they were the ones who painted specific art pieces.

"Margaret really believed that as a woman, people would not buy her art," Adams said in the interview with USA Today. "[Walter] convinced her the life they were able to lead was because the artist was a man, who could sell more art at a higher price than a woman."

Looking at samples of the Margaret Keane paintings, and you can somehow sense that the artist had a big influence of the visual aesthetic of Tim Burton.

Big Eyes is set to be released on Christmas day this year. Watch out for the trailer which should be out soon.
