Apple and Samsung are both set for another tough competition this year as mobile titans schedule the release of flagship devices iPhone 6 and Galaxy Note 4 on September 2014. Note 4 will allegedly come out on September 3 at the Berlin IFA show and iPhone 6 on September 9.

Sounds like a déjà vu? It was also during that month last year when these companies launched iPhone 5s and Galaxy Note 3; and without a doubt, these devices made history in the mobile industry. Now let's take a look at the potential specs and features of their successors:

Design and display

The iPhone 6 is said to come in two variants: a LED-backlit IPS LCD 4.7-inch version which will most likely render a resolution of 960 x 1704 pixels with 416 ppi; and a 5.5-inch version, expected to have a 2772 x 1280 with 510-515 ppi resolution. According to 9to5mac, Apple seems to have designed its device with a curved display similar to the lated iPod touch, still with its shatter proof sapphire crystal glass and water resistant oleophobic coating. It will reportedly come in gray, gold, and black colors although no final confirmation has made yet.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Note S4, as per tech authority evleaks, is rumored to come in the same four colors as the Galaxy S5: gold, white, blue, and black. It may sport a 5.7-inch super Amoled display rendering a resolution of 2560 x 1440 with 515 pixel density.

Hardware and OS

iPhone 6 will be powered by A8 64-bit processor with 2 GB RAM. It will be available in 16, 32, 64, and 128 GB just like its predecessors. In contrast, Galaxy Note 4 is expected to come packed with a Snapdragon 800-series SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM, which is considerably an upgrade from the 3GB RAM of Note 3. While the 128 GB model is rumored to be included in the variants list, one advantage of this Samsung phablet is the availability of microSD slot.

iPhone 6 will run on iOS 8; Note 4 will most likely run of Android 4.5 Lollipop.

Camera

iPhone 6 will allegedly have an 8-10 MP rear-facing camera probably with optical image stabilization and 3.2 MP front-facing camera. As for its rival, there are two speculations about its camera features: first is the 16 MP rear camera and 3.6 MP front camera with ISOCELL technology and second is the astounding 20.1 MP shooter in the rear and 4 MP front camera.

Battery

As per Forbes, the Apple iPhone 6 device may have a 2,500 mAh battery while the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has not released any clue regarding this aspect yet. If we're going to keep track of its predecessor, Note 3 is powered by Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery, and we can only expect a more powerful Note 4 this year.

Other rumored features

Tons of amazing features that are 'available' in these devices are now circulating online. While, it is important to keep our expectations realistic, taking everything with just a pinch of salt may not be that bad. iPhone 6 will allegedly come with heart rate and lightning EarPods. As per secret.ly, "Apple's new EarPods will have sensors in them, for heart rate & blood pressure. Also iBeacons so they don't get lost. They will require the lightning port, it's why the audio jack was moved to the bottom."

Other rumored features are the wireless charging option, auto unlocking, and the NFC technology, which can be used for mobile payments.

Alternatively, four possible features of the Galaxy Note 4 include the Smart Fingerprint, a fingerprint reader for specific mobile actions; a Multi Network for Booster, which is similar to the download booster feature of S5; a Swipe to Launch Motion Launcher, and the Aqua Capture.

Another leak from Sammobile, implies the availability of UV sensor, which will notify users if they are getting too much radiation. "The sensor will be used to measure the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation and prevent users from damaging their skin, ageing it prematurely, and increasing their risk of skin cancer by giving recommended guidance based on the current UV index level at that particular place and time. To actually measure the UV radiation, users will need to maintain over 60 degree angle of elevation towards the sun against the back of the sensor," shares Sammobile.

Which flagship device will reign this fall? Apple iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4?
