'Harry Potter' author JK Rowling writes as Dumbledore for a teenager who survived a Texas massacre in July.
Cassidy Stay quoted the fictional headmaster as she retold her experience to the press. The 15-year-old Texan survived a shooting rampage by her aunt's ex-husband in Houston, Texas by playing dead. The incident left without both her parents and four siblings.
In the CBS report, Stay shared the quote, "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light," which Dumbledore mentioned in 'Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban."
A Facebook campaign immediately started for Stay to meet with the 'Harry Potter' author. She apparently was a big Potter fan.
After hearing of the situation, Rowling helped the survivor with her first few months of losing her family by sending her a handwritten letter from Albus Dumbledore.
The Facebook group published a status regarding the author's sweet gesture, saying, "I talked to a friend of Cassidy's who confirmed that JK Rowling did, in fact, write her a personalized letter from 'Dumbledore' (hand-written with purple ink). She was also sent a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts with a school supply list, along with the 3rd book with JK's autograph."
The Today show got a confirmation from the British author that JK Rowling writing as Dumbledore for Cassidy Stay was, in fact, true.
The representative also added, "The contents of the letter and how it came about are private and between her and Cassidy."
Being a private person herself, Rowling has been trying to keep her life as far away from paparazzi as possible, even writing under a pseudonym for a detective novel she published after the phenomenal 'Harry Potter' franchise.
Although Cassidy Stay has not said anything about the letter from Rowling, like Harry Potter who received comfort from the wise headmaster, she would have hopefully been consoled by the thoughtful letter JK Rowling wrote as Dumbledore.
