New DVD: The Face Of Love Movie Review Annette Bening. The new dvd videopick for this week is The Face Of Love (2014, IFC, PG-13, $25). The DVD release came out in mid-July and is a story about a woman, Annette Bening, who meets a man resembling her husband who passed away. The story line reminds the audience that romances founded on secrets and half-truths almost never last.
Tom played by Ed Harris is right on track for the role of new man in Nikki's (Annette Bening's) life. Amd the two develop a romance that does exactly what you would think - give into temptation and build a relationship on false pretenses.
The 2013 American comedy is directed by Arie Posen and co-written by Matthew McDuffie. Posen admits that some of the drama in the film is far-fetched and is not poignant. However, The Face of Love is a relaxing romance for those who enjoy watching the Bening and Harris duo play their parts exquisitely on the big screen.
Cast of Face Of Love Robin includes Robin Williams, Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Amy Brenneman, Jess Weixler and Linda Park. The film received a screening at the Special Presentation of 2013 Toronto International Film Festival .
The Face of Love starring Annette Bening and Ed Harris finds finds a new angle for romance when Nikki (Bening), a well developed character in the film struggles to get through her grief and accept the death of her husband. First she spends more time with Robin Williams, who is also in the same shoes as Nikki. Following the brief encounter, she becomes more deeply involved with her art professor Tom played by Ed Harris. She runs into Tom at a museum and he looks exactly like Nikki's former husband.
Using Tom as a stand-in for her spouse is a tempting act of gratification and Nikki does not fully understand what she is doing in a complex involvement that triggers her emotions into bouts of playing 'Russian Roulette' at the expense of her stability. Nonetheless, there are some very eye-opening scenes in 'Face.' Some features in the DVD include deleted scenes along with crew and cast. The suggested price of the DVD is $24.98.
