The Brazilian club AC Milan has announced Robinho's return to the squad for a third spell, joining on a season-long loan.
Despite the linkage with a move to Major League Soccer, Robinho chose to go back to the club where he started his career before moving to Real Madrid in 2005. He also had a spell there on loan from Manchester City in 2010 before joining Milan.
The 30-year-old forward says that Milan is his home, and it is a place where he feels very good and especially because it is where he came into the world of football where his career first flourished. He hopes to repay the affection and support of all the fans on the pith. He said he wants to put Santos back where they should be which is at the very top of the table.
Robinho was hindered by the injuries he had had last year in Milan as the Rossoneri placed 8th in the season's finale.
The athlete had been expected to join his compatriot and former Milan teammate Kaka at new MLS franchise Orlando, but Santos was eager to secure a fan favorite.
"When we started the negotiations we knew the importance of the player both for the club and for the fans," said Santos sporting director Andre Zanotta. "It was a difficult negotiation but with a happy ending. Now we are hoping the documentation is done in time for the match against Corinthians on Sunday."
