Lonely Island is set to make their comeback.

This time, it's going to be with the help of director and producer Judd Apatow.

It was announced that Universal Pictures had picked up the rights for a new film starring the comedic-music trio, according to the Independent.

Although a title for the trio's second feature film has yet to be decided, and very little detail about the film's plot has been revealed, the three men will reportedly be playing characters in "the world of music," according to Variety.

The Lonely Island boys consist of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. Scaffer and Taccone have put themselves forward as the film's director and producer of "Liar Liar," Erik Baiers, is said to be involved in the upcoming feature.

The Lonely Island is most well known for their fake rap videos including "I'm On A Boat," "Jizz In My Pants" and "Dick In A Box," according to the Daily Caller.

Aside from their rap videos, the comedy trio released their first Hollywood project "Hot Rod" back in 2007, which starred Samberg as a self-proclaimed stuntman Rod Kimble. The film reportedly lost Paramount Pictures over $10 million, but still has a cult following.

Despite the fall of "Hot Rod," The Lonely Island has been getting skyrocketing as of late. Back in January, the trio signed a deal with Fox that would see them producing comedy shows for the network over the next couple of years, according to the UK publication.
