PGA Championship: Rory McIlroy off to a great Start

Rory McIlroy has been making waves in the golf scene and the PGA Championship is no exception. McIlroy has been working his way through the course in Valhalla through the rain. There were moments that the young golfer was unsure of his where his ball landed due to the rain clouds that challenged everyone last Friday. He has been looking over his caddie to confirm if his shots were good, and indeed it was.

McIlroy produced fantastic shots during the tournament making all the right putts in a round of 4 under 67. Now, he has a one shot lead over competitors Jason Day and Jim Furyk.

According to McIlroy "When I'm playing like this, it's obviously very enjoyable. 'I can't wait to get back out on the course again tomorrow and do the same thing all over again."

But McIlroy has a tough competition for this year's PGA. Furyk is a former US champion and was a runner up in the PGA. He also has Ryan Palmer (70) and Rickie Fowler (66) to look out for as they have been runners up in the last two majors.

That is why he is not complacent during the games. He said "My mindset has stayed the same since that day at Augusta" adding "If I'm two ahead going into the weekend here, I'm going to try to get three ahead. And if I'm three ahead, I'm going to try to get four ahead. ... I'm just going to try to keep the pedal down and get as many ahead as possible."

McIlroy took his time in the course. He was not able to make the first lead in the tournament not until the par-5 18th hole.

When asked about the idea of winning the PGA he answered "'It would be big. It would be a fourth major championship, two in one year, two in a row. There's a lot of golf left to play, I'm going to try my best to just keep what I've got and keep doing that."

On the other hand, fellow competitor, Tiger Woods, has been wobbling through the competition. He shot another 74 which made him miss the PGA cut.
