Detroit Tigers are finally getting back on its feet after having back to back losses. It was Nick Castellanos and Eugenio Suarez who made the big scores for the tigers securing their win.
Castellanos locked two home runs during the ninth inning while Suarez made a go-ahead shot that defeated the Toronto Blue Jays last Friday night.
According to Tigers manager Brad Ausmus "That was a good inning for us. I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed it considering the way we had swung the bats in New York."
The Tigers were training the Blue Jays with 4-2 as they entered the ninth inning with Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen. It was J.D. Martinez started the inning with a double. Castellanos then homered on a first-pitch curveball after an out. After two pitches, Suarez then gave the team their lead with a drive to the center.
Castellanos said "It was good. We really needed that"
After a two-double by Ian Kinsler, Janssen was replaced by Aaron Loup. To this, Janssen said "I feel bad for the boys. We're in a race. Those things burn a little bit more."
Tigers right-hander Anibal Sanchez had a strained muscle in his right side which caused him to leave the game early in the fifth inning. He will return to Detroit for further test which also includes on MRI.
''There was no way I could throw another pitch,'' said Sanchez. ''I felt a lot of pain in that moment.''
When he left the field, he was replaced by Left-hander Blaine Hardy. The changed gave the team four runs and 10 hits in 4 2-3 innings.
Now the lead 1-0, Toronto made it 4-0 with a three-run second, this is in part to a poor defensive inning by Martinez in left field.
Once Jose Reyes singled, Goins scored and Reyes went to third when Martinez couldn't make a clean play on Melky Cabrera's ground ball single. Jose Bautista capped it with an RBI single.
Thanks to a two-run double by Kinsler in the third; Detroit has cut the difference into half. Detroit's veterans were happy of the ninth inning home run.
