"Doctor Strange" movie will literally take on a rather strange path in terms of how its plot unfolds: It will greet the audience in his current completely formed Supreme Sorcerer.
With this approach, the "Doctor Strange" movie stands out from the other superhero characters in the Marvel Universe. Flickering Myth has confirmed this in its report, stating that Marvel has mandated the banning of origin stories in its future movie lineup - and "Doctor Strange" movie is one of them.
They got wind of this latest development in the Marvel Universe from the Meet the Movie Press Podcast featuring David Paraci, as reported by Badass Digest. Paraci said that they have scrapped the in-house script that followed traditional origin narrating format with Baron Mordo as the villain.
Paraci added that the script John Spaihts is currently working on is totally different from that which Joshua Oppenheimer wrote four years ago (2010).
He said that the plot jumps immediately to media res with the character of Doctor Strange already presented as Sorcerer Supreme. No origin tale to be relayed for the lead character this time around. Thus, they had to rewrite the entire script to make way for it. John Spaihts rolls up his sleeves and takes on the job of writing a new one without taking any influences from the first script, JoBlo reported.
Should this be the case, then viewers could only learn of how Doctor Strange came to be through flashbacks. These will give them tidbits of information about how the sorcerer acquired his powers.
So far, this news gives Marvel Universe fans some info about the on-goings behind the production of "Doctor Strange" movie. In this year's San Diego ComicCon, they were expecting the firm to relay significant announcements about it. However, not much has been mentioned save for a couple of vital info such as Scott Derrickson's taking on the director's seat while working with an original script penned by John Spaihts.
