The daughter of an Alzheimer's sufferer was pleasantly surprised when her mother recognized her and remembered her name.
Kelly Gunderson was lying side by side with her 87-year-old mother when the touching, tear-jerking moment happened in a Georgia hospital, according to the NY Daily News.
While the two are having a conversation about lying side by side with the one that you love, Kelly Gunderson asks her mother with Alzheimer's if she knows who she is.
"Kelly," responds the woman.
When Kelly Gunderson expresses shock from her mother recognizing her, the woman continues with, "Well, I love Kelly, and didn't I go on to name you Kelly? I love you, Kelly."
Although the clip is under two minutes, it's incredibly moving, as the pair then repeat how much they love each other until the video ends. The video was uploaded on YouTube on Friday and has since been seen almost 1 million times.
"My 87-year-old mother with Alzheimer's knew who I was, even if just for a moment," Gunderson wrote in the description.
Alzheimer's disease is reportedly thought to affect 5 million people in the U.S. and is the most common form of dementia. A cure is still yet to be found.
