FIBA World Cup: Unbeaten US routs New Zealand 98-71

The USA National Team nailed the New Zealand Squad 98-71 during the last Tuesday's game at the FIBA World Cup held in Spain.

Anthony Davis had 21 points and nine rebounds, Kenneth Faried added 15 and 11 boards and the U.S. remained unbeaten at the Basketball World Cup by beating winless New Zealand 98-71 on Tuesday.

According to U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski "It was a good, solid performance. I thought the intensity was excellent."

James Harden scored 13 points for the US team and had helped the team lead the game till the last quarter.

Veteran forward Casey Frank said "'It was pretty awesome getting to play against these guys. These are guys that we watch on TV all the time. To be able to get out there on the court against them and have a little bit of success offensively, obviously the result didn't go our way, was pretty awesome."

BJ Anthony scored 11 points for New Zealand. The team currently does not have any wins since the start of the games.

With regards to the Haka Dance done by the New Zealand Team that took place right before the game, Krzyzewski said that the team already know that it was going to be performed. That is why they had themselves lined up to face the opponent.

Krzyzewski said "We actually were going to shake hands with them afterwards because we knew that that was a really neat thing to do and it's part of their tradition, and we admire that."

Faried was working himself hard in the game. He finished 7 of 9 from the field and is shooting 81 percent and has been named by Krzyzewski as "biggest and best surprise."

Faried commented "I'm just playing out there. I'm just having fun. I'm just playing my game, having fun, enjoying life."

Harden was also happy with the performance of the team having been on the lead all this time with no losses. He siad "We've got 12 guys that can score the basketball at any given moment.and tonight and every other night the focus is defense, and whoever scores the basketball, it's USA points."
