Mercedes may consider change to Hamilton and Rosberg line-up

Mercedes sports boss Toto Wolff has set an ultimatum saying they will have to consider dropping Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg if the pair cannot race together cleanly.

This happened right after Mercedes drivers, Rosberg collided with Hamilton's car in Belgium.

According to Wolff "We would have to take decisions and take the consequences of having a different line-up. If we are not able to manage the two of them following the Mercedes-Benz spirit then we need to admit that."

Mercedes team took disciplinary actions towards Rosberg after he admitted that he intentionally hit Hamilton's car during the race.

Hamilton claimed that Rosberg had deliberately driven into him during the second lap of the race at the Spa and that Rosberg admitted this. Because of the crash, Hamilton's chance of winning the race was close to zero as he punctured his tire in the crash which led to him retiring from the race while Rosberg finished second which increases his championship lead over Hamilton to 29 points.

Wolff had an exclusive interview with BBC Radio 5 live saying "When you are managing a team it is very important to keep it balanced. I would very much like the penalties we have been implementing to stay within the team because it is just not fair on the driver to discuss that in public."

He added "We have made it very clear this is an unacceptable scenario for us, for both of them. We don't want this to happen ever again."

On the other hand, Hamilton contested the decicion of FIA decision not to investigate the collision with Rosberg. He said "Can we race a lot closer and if the other guy is out of the race nothing will happen? Or if it happens again will there be a penalty? We are always asking to be able to race. But there is a fine line."

But according to the governing body, there was no need to revise the view as it was a racing incident.

When Hamilton was asked if he trust Rosberg, he answered "Trust is a big word and it is not something I would apply to a race on the track. Nico and I have been racing for a long time, we set a good foundation a long time ago and that's what we work from."
