For the design and dislay, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has a display of 5.1 inch super AMOLED, whereas the S5 Mini version comes out with a smaller display of 4.5 inch Super AMOLED. The Galaxy S5 Mini has the screen resolution and pixel density of 720×1.280 and 326 ppi while the Galaxy S5 Active stands at 1.080×1.920 and 432 ppi.
Both Samsung devices have perforated plastic rear, but it is distinguished with the new feature, the glossy fake metal tape which covers the device’s corners. In addition, Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is the rough version of the amazing spotlighted Galaxy S5 and shows a rugged body, consolidated plastic edges and a flat black panel.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is 0.35 inch thick and weighs 170 grams, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 is 0.36 inch and weighs 120 g. In addition, both devices feature dust and water resistive. The Galaxy S5 Active is also shock resistant, which makes it IP 67 and MIL STD 810G certified.
For the hardware and OS, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active has a processor quad core Krait 400 (QUALCOMM-Snapdragon-801), of 2.5 GHz and it’s been released with 2 GB of RAM. On the other side, The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini on the other hand, is powered by a processor quad core ( Exynos 3) Cortex A7 of 1.4 GHz. It also provides 1.5 GB of RAM and both smartphones operate on the Android v 4.4.2 Kit-Kat OS with Samsung’s Touch-Wiz UI.
They also have similar memory storage of 16 GB intern memory. Plus, both have micro SD card support for memory expansion, but the limit of Galaxy S5 Mini stands at 64 GB, while the Galaxy S5 Active 128 GB.
For battery and camera specs, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini comes with 2100 mAh user replaceable battery part, while the Galaxy S5 Active houses a better 2800 mAh user replaceable battery.
The Galaxy S5 Mini has an 8 MP rear facing camera with LED-flash, while the Galaxy S5 Active provides an amazing 16 MP primary cam also with LED-flash. Plus, they have 2 MP and 2.1 MP front facing cameras.
In addition, both smartphones feature heart-rate monitor, but the Galaxy S5 Mini comes with a fingerprint scanner, while the Galaxy S5 Active does not have one.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Active will be available at a price of $714.99 while Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini can already be found on Amazon for $659.
